Fragments of Figures

The relief is an artistic mode of communication with a thousand-year legacy and roots in ancient Egypt, the Middle East and Europe, which was traditionally used to narrate the daily life of humans, animals, and nature. For us, the relief format holds enduring value as a means of expressing shadow play and texture. In ‘Fragments of Figures’, the human form is explored through subtle three-dimensional, abstracted shapes and the viewer is invited to watch lines shift and volumes of shadows grow as light moves across the surfaces. In this way, we aim to highlight the connection between the reliefs and their spatial context, encouraging the observation of subtle environmental evolutions and of time passing.

Each of the three unique pieces in ‘Fragments of Figures’ are in themselves fragments of a triptych; they can be displayed on the wall in different positions to create a variety of motifs interconnected through each piece’s intricate linework and curvilinear compositions. This feature offers flexibility, allowing the works to adapt to varying interior environments or to be rearranged into different narratives and introduce new visual interest.

We have combined a clear and refined aesthetic with three light hues from St. Leo. We cannot guarantee that colours in the website are fully equivalent to the relief’s actual colours. This depends partly on the colour settings of your computer or other device. Also each relief is unique and variations in the surface structure and edges might occur.

Constructed from wood and hand-painted with eco-friendly paint made from finely crushed stone and liquid colour pigments. Each relief is unique, and the texture will therefore vary.

Do not place the relief outside, close to fire, close to heat (e.g. close to a heater), close to water or in any humid environment, as the relief responds to touch, sunlight, humidity and temperature.

This triptych is in a limited edition of 3. When the limited edition works are sold out, they will not be made in new editions.
